SUMMER CAMP!!!!!!
yep, that's right, a week long day camp for 7th and 8th grade girls
My daughter Meredith and I will host:

Art+Words=COLLAGE!
Join us as we make art journals, alter books with paint and collage,
make artist books and write poetry. We'll work with markers, inks, paint, glue and words to create our own little worlds on the page.
If your middle schooler loves doodling, writing, dreaming... this is the week for her!

July 7-11 from 9am to 4pm
$100 includes materials
pack a bag lunch, drinks and a snack provided.

Beginning Metalsmithing
Saturday June 28th

9am-4pm at Wabi Sabi Warehouse
19 North 9th St. Near the Cape Fear Museum

Learn sawing, piercing, riveting and other basic metalsmithing skills on copper.

$75 includes materials.
We'll break for lunchat noon, so pack a bag lunch or eat out downtown.
Bring your work clothes and close up glasses if you normally use them.

Found Object Mania!
Jewelry Making Weekend
August 23th 9am-5pm
and 24th 12-5pm
At Wabi Sabi Warehouse 19 North 9th Street Wilmington, NC

Learn how to make wearable art out of found objects and copper, tin or recycled metals and wire.
We will learn sawing and cold connecting.
Bring your work clothes small items to play with like buttons, coins, found bits use your imagination!

$125 includes materials

We'll break for lunch at noon. You may want to take advantage of
the wonderful eaterys downtown, or bring a bag lunch and hang out at Wabi Sabi Warehouse!

Session I -Private Beginning Metalsmithing lessons
Melissa conducts one on one lessons in her Wilmington, NC studio.
Students will learn begining techniques including, sawing and piercing,
drilling, filing, sanding, texturing metal, as well as basic soldering.
Session I includes 4 two hour lessons for $200.
Tools, copper and some silver are supplied.
Your own tools are optional at this point.

Private lessons are technique oriented rather than project oriented.
Students will be taught techniques that they can expand upon as they
develope their own home workspaces. Project oriented classes, where
students complete pieces of jewelry, are coming very soon!

Session II- Next Step Metalsmithing
This next series of lessons with expand upon metalsmithing techniques. Students learn
techiniques such as etching metal, scoring and bending to make structures and using the hydraulic
press to create volume. Session II includes further explorations with soldering and bezel setting stones.
Session II also is comprised of 4 two hour lessons.

Session III-Moving on up!
With basic proceedures under their belt, students can choose their direction in this next series of lessons.
More complicated silver hollow form constructions, or beginning forming are options.

Beginning Enamelling
For intermediate metalsmiths wanting to try adding color, this session will cover basic
beginning enamelling using powdered glass enamels. I have no enamelling scheduled at this time.

Precious Metal Clay
Students will learn basic Precious Metal Clay techniques.
This one day workshop includes one package of PMC and basic tools. TBA
