Was on a trip to Lake Norman over in North Carolina to visit some friends and figured I would blog about the area as it is quite nice. The area of Cornelius is very close to Lake Norman so you can just drive on over to the lake and setup pretty much all day with your friends. It does get a bit cold this time of year but it is still very pretty out. Lake Norman was created in 1963, by closing off the Catawba River. Lake Norman has roughly 500 miles of shore, and Cornelius has the highest amount of this shore in all the districts of the lake (about 70 miles).
Other than the lake you can go out and hit the town with good friends. There are a lot of fun bars in the city and there are lots of college students around as there are a few good universities in the Charlotte area.
What Makes Cornelius Special?
One of the things that makes Cornelius special is that it is a thriving place for small business. I know people that own companies here. One owns a carpet cleaning company that services Cornelius and the surrounding areas. If you ever want to have a home service company then Cornelius is a good place to start as it has that small town feel and people look out for each other.
The city is only around 15 square miles and has a population of around 30,000 people. The town was founded in 1893 and has a history of cotton weighing. The city is home to a championship golf course and has a wide variety of parks.
